Your Introduction to the Expat Life

Americans and other internationals living in Germany do, of course, have to know and observe local laws. But they still need to be aware of what they need to do to meet their obligations to their home country, and should know as well what services and support their home country offers them.

The American Women's Club of Düsseldorf can not supply you with a comprehensive guide to U.S. and German laws and services.  But, including links and resources in each article, we make a small offering to get you started.

Life in Germany - Includes things which any resident, and especially a foreigner or expatriate (expat), might need to know.

U.S. Citizen Concerns - Includes things relevant to U.S. citizens and green card holders.

In addition to legal and tax things, you will see we also include just some good information to know.

Whether on bad weather days you affectionately call it "Drizzledorf", or "Dazzledorf" because it is always the jewel of the Rhine - welcome and good luck!
