Membership Application Cover Letter and Information

May 2008

Welcome to the American Women's Club of Duesseldorf for the 2008/2009 Club year. For over forty-five years members of the American Women's Club of Düsseldorf have helped support thousands of expatriates adjust to life in Germany. Additionally, Club members have given generously of their time and talent to build relationships with our local community through our charitable efforts.

As the new Club year begins, we once again encourage you to be an active participant in the AWCD. We are proud of the continued success of the AWCD due to its caring members. You can make a difference. This is your opportunity to participate in our widely varied club life by joining activities, helping where you can, and taking part in Club government through exercising your right to vote.

Our Club year begins on June 1st. Member applications and payment of dues are due on June 1st.

After July 1st, ALL renewing members will incur a €20 late fee. Associate Members will be placed back on waiting
list. Also, there is no guarantee that your information will appear in the Member Directory or that you will receive a
September Radschläger.

Please look below for information concerning our application process and the application itself.

If you have any questions, please contact our Membership Team.

MEMBERSHIP CATEGORIES AND OTHER INFORMATION

All Renewing members (including Regular (R) This includes those who are U.S. citizens, are married to a U.S. citizen, whose children are U.S. citizens or whose parent(s) are U.S. citizens; Associate (A), and Applicants for Associate (AA) membership) are required to submit the official Membership Application package by June 1st of the new Club year with full payment .

Due to the advancement of banking and communication systems, we feel that there is no longer a need for a grace period for renewing members that extends to the month of September. Therefore, we ask you to complete this task before you leave on summer holiday. This also allows us to have the membership directory available in early fall.

Associate Members If you do not renew before the end of the grace period, your status will revert back to Applicant for Associate Member and you must restart the application process. See Article III Section B.4 of the constitution.

Associate members who have maintained membership in the Club for at least ten years (10) may elect to become a Guest Member. Guest Members are not eligible to vote and therefore pay a reduced member fee. If you think you meet these requirements and would like to change your status, please contact the Membership Chair for details.

Applicants for Associate Membership If you want to be considered for Associate Member status, which entitles you to vote in elections, you must complete the attached Luncheon (Monthly Meeting) requirement form and return it to the Associate Member Liaison. The number of AA members is unlimited.

ALL renewing Members submitting applications and /or payments after the grace period will incur a 20 Euro late fee. In addition, if application with payment is not received by July 1st , you will not be guaranteed a September Radschläger.
